UPS Technician

UPS Technicians specialize in the maintenance, repair, and installation of Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) systems that provide critical backup power for data centers, hospitals, manufacturing facilities, and other mission-critical operations. They ensure system reliability and optimal performance to protect customer operations.

• Perform preventive maintenance on UPS systems including battery testing, cleaning, calibration, and component inspections according to manufacturer specifications and maintenance schedules.
• Diagnose and repair UPS system failures including power modules, control systems, bypass switches, and battery systems. Replace defective components and perform system testing.
• Install new UPS systems and battery banks including mechanical installation, electrical connections, and system commissioning. Configure control parameters and perform acceptance testing.
• Maintain detailed service records and prepare comprehensive reports on equipment condition and recommendations. Update customer equipment databases and maintenance schedules.
• Provide technical support and training to customer personnel on UPS operation, alarm response, and basic maintenance procedures.
• Support emergency service calls for UPS system failures and critical power issues. Participate in on-call rotation as required.
• Work with sales and engineering teams to assess customer power protection needs and recommend system upgrades or replacements.

• High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification in electrical/electronic technology preferred. 2+ years of experience with UPS systems, power electronics, or electrical equipment maintenance.
• Knowledge of UPS system operation, battery systems, and power quality concepts. Ability to read electrical schematics and technical documentation.
• Experience with electrical test equipment including multimeters, oscilloscopes, and battery analyzers. Understanding of electrical safety procedures and lockout/tagout protocols.
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record. Ability to obtain security clearances for critical facility access.
• Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to work independently. Customer service orientation and professional communication skills.

• Ability to lift battery units up to 70 pounds with assistance and equipment up to 35 pounds independently.
• Work in data centers, industrial facilities, and critical infrastructure environments.
• Stand for extended periods, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces.
• Manual dexterity for electrical connections and precision adjustments.
